Released in 2002 (Catalog #: CS-23 LP), Sunset Sunrise uncovers the incredibly distinct, often rhythmically complex world of late-Soviet-era Bulgarian jazz.
The Sound: Bulgarian jazz is heavily influenced by the region's traditional asymmetric folk rhythms (like 5/8, 7/8, or 11/8 time signatures), blending traditional Balkan music seamlessly with spacey jazz fusion and upbeat samba tempos.
