the Life section contains three interviews with sartre, first published in the 1970s. the longest interview was conducted when he was seventy years old. he talked about aging, going blind, and of the act of writing. for the first time he talked about the importance of music in his life, and his views on his money. the second interview, he sat down with his companion simone de beauvoir to answer questions she put to him on sexism, and the identity of the middle classed woman as defined by her husband. in the third interview, sartre discussed work on his final long project, a biography of flaubert, published as the Family Idiot.
